It wouldn't put me off Bala, i think it just shows that even the LRE wives can get it wrong (they were the ones driving the 110).
I think the 1st clip must have been LRE DunkeldD3 HSE MY05 Auto

Reason that would put me off Bala was not getting stuck, it was the recovery attempt, specifically the winching.
Don't know if 1st is Dunkeld, don't recognise the instructor. 2nd part of that vid on YouTube as well but can't cut & paste link as on iPhone.

Yeah that was just silly. It was fairly obvious to everyone that the 110 wasn't going forwards and therefore the D4 that was on the flat ground was just getting pulled towards it.D3 HSE MY05 Auto

And everyone standing around a live winch wire while it's under tension. Whether wire or plastic, it would more than hurt if it failed.
Mind you, at least the Deafner had a bumper mounted winch, would have been fun with a hidden winch!
