Has anyone who got a D4 recently noticed that they have the square hitch but not the tow ball part ( err....technical term for it? ).
Had all the gear supplied with the previous D3 ( in the rear left cubby ) and RRS ( under the cargo area ).
Wondering how much LR will sting for one of these? D4 Zermatt Silver TDV6: Premium Nav, Front Park, Bi-xenon, Hi-Ice, 7 Seat, dark as legal window tint. MAXTRAX, small shovel, snatch and shackles. If you are referring to the square tongue and Ball from memory I think they are about $165. Strudeltoowoomba

Are you referring to the "plug in" (with key) piece and the ball ? .......if so you can have mine - it's from a D3 but I'm assuming it would fit a D4 - if you want it just send me a PM and we'll work it out (you pay the postage) - at the moment it's acting as a door stop for my shed.....I don't want or need it.

I have the Plow Mk 11 which is a much lower profile.
It's the bit with the ball that I'm missing - so I can fit a bike rack to the square hitch but not tow a trailer with what I've got at the moment. Heyman Reese have one for under $100, its a standard 50mm square tongue.
But check with LR, it should be standard kit.

Plough Mk I and Plough Mk II have different draw bar and ball due to height difference. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I thought that was the case, when I he went through the pre-sale handover the words "tow bar" and "lucky you have got one, others have not" were mentioned. I had my D4 delivered in Sydney at the end of January. The Hitch Receiver was not delivered at the time as there was a shortage, stories of borrowing from D3 for those who had to tow etc. It was all a bit vague what was supposed to be included but this is my understanding now after finally getting it all last week.
a) Hit receiver should be included (plow mark II), it can be locked in place or stored inside the back on the left side.
b) The tow bar bit and ball that slots into this seems to be an extra at about $460. I ended up getting this thrown in because of the delay in getting the hitch receiver and them wanting to get me out of the show room.
c) You also get the Australian wiring, a Narva 7 Pin round to & pin flat conversion cable. This does not really address the different use of pin 5 for Service Brakes ( ie break controller) in Australia and it use in Europe. (see the other posts re setting up a break controller on D4)
My first post here, but must say I really love the D4 and the info on here is great.

The Discovery4 does not come with as Standard the tow tongue RAA560, This part is an accessory to the vehicle.
The Hitch on the other hand is standard along with the wiring behind the rear platic cover. It comes standard as a 7 pin round plug & some dealers are suppying a flat-round adaptor plug as what state requires what.
LR after testing have determined that the kits should be used as follows
Hitch KNB500023/80 & Tow Tongue RAA550 for Discovery 3 Only
Hitch LR019990 & Tow Tongue RAA560 for Discovery 4 Only
The later kit can be used on the D3 but as a complete kit, no swapping of tongues from different hitches.
Cheers D4 Alaska/Almond 2.7 TDV6 with E-diff & extra's..
Keep smilin' Pete.
