After a happy and problem free 3 years with my D3 HSE I took the plunge and took delivery of a D4 HSE 6 weeks ago.
On Friday 4pm it wouldn't start. Saying ignition on and telling me to press brake to start even though I was. Then saying steering locked even though it wasn't.
LR assistance sent AA within the hour and was useless.
Waited 4 hours for transporter to send car back to dealers.
Was stuck down on LLeyn peninsula in Wales waiting for hire car 180 miles from home. Even though my holiday home is down there I had to get back to north Sunday. Was told I couldn't have a hire car until Monday! Eventually managed to get a Freelander on Sunday morning, but had to travel 50 miles for it.
Still waiting for car to be repaired.
If software upgrades are needed why on earth do they let a car be released from the factory in this state.
£ 49000 for a car and you get this treatment.
Not happy.
Anyway gripe over I can't wait to get it back!!!!!!

Sounds like what mine does from time to time. I switch it off then on again and away it goes.

Strange that the problem occurred after 6 weeks and a scary type of problem for anyone venturing into remote areas. Hopefully its caused by a rare assembly fault and that it wont happen again once fixed, perhaps wiring damaged by abrasion or similar.

Glad its looking finally sorted.
Hopefully a full valet and a free service will be their response to a PR disaster such as this?
I would milk it if it was me. All things shipping, storage, transport. UK and worldwide.

Sorry to hear about your problems !
I bought a DEFENDER new in 2008, i eventually had enough of it constantly breaking down being recovered having software updates and having enteprise mess me about with hire cars !
The service i didnt recieve through Land Rover was absolutely diabolical. The AA Man came out and told me how sh!te Land Rovers were while he stood there swearing with a fag on !
I always deny the AA have anything to do with my cars, i opt to wait for the ON CALL Land Rover techy !
Not much good if ur in a rush but much better service.
I hope all goes well and you get back to enjoying youre motoring
Its a beautiful car to have !

One of the reasons I didn't go for LRA for 2 x D3s last April is that up here they don't have any techs, you just got a recovery truck. Also RAC cover did both cars for one membership so little bit of saving there. Saying that last time I had a car recovered by LRA I got a D3, great as snow on the ground!
