New Discovery 4.0 HSE on order at last
Firstly, hello !
My first post here, although I have been following this site for some time and gleaning lots of very useful information before finally placing an order for our new car yesterday. What a great community this seems to be.
We have gone for the new HSE in Stornoway Grey with Almond/Nutmeg, Grand black laquer wood trim,
Tow pack, Full size alloy spare wheel, iPod connection, Heated steering wheel and Privacy glass.
Awaiting confirmation of build slot but anticipated delivery in May (probably towards the end now I guess).
We were a little unsure about the Stornoway & Almond/ Nutmeg combination if I'm honest. Don't want another black interior though and dont need it dark (children are older and the dog is russet brown so the hairs don't show badly on light carpet). Originally we were going for Almond / Arabica but I was advised that this was not the best as its too brown to go with grey. What do people think?
Really looking forward to getting the car - at last something to tow the Caterham with (rather than drive to tracks and arrive tired) and for the whole family to go out together agin in comfort
Will probably need lots of advice on accessories and fitting so this wont be my last post I'm sure.

I think Vizsla means that he has a Discovery 4.0 3 Litre.
He is absolutely right, as LR are going to start increasing the model number in line with MYs, so in 2011 it will be a Discovery 5.0, and a 4.5 if they do at 2010.5 MY version.
Welcome Vizsla, I hope that some of us can be of help to you.

hi bought an identical D4 at the end of jan.mine has the adjustable height tow bar, they are better when towing twin axle trailers ,the height adjustment allows fine tuning of the ride of the trailer,

Nigel,
Thats really useful to know. A little confused now as to what Im actually getting with the Tow Pack - is this inclusive of the removable tow hook only and will I need to specify the adjustable height tow bar as an extra?
LR are going to start increasing the model number in line with MYs, so in 2011 it will be a Discovery 5.0, and a 4.5 if they do at 2010.5 MY version
Does Martin know?
Car sounds nice BTW

Dealer called yesterday to say they have had confirmation that its built and will shortly be on the way to them
Just need to sort out the paperwork, insurance etc so hopefully can arrange a suitable time to collect towards the month end - bang on the ETA when ordered. Oh, I also altered the original order to include Adaptive Lights
Welcome thoughts on the adjustable height tow hook vs the removable version as supplied with the Tow Pack - is the former a necessity for a small car trailer or will the supplied version suffice
You either have the removalable swan-neck tow bar, or the height-adjustable rigid/fixed tow-bar. I'd wager they've ordered the swan-neck removable one, if you didn't stipulate you wanted the height-adjustable version.
I've only every used the swan-neck version and this seems to be fine on the 5ft long bed and 8.5ft long bed trailers I've towed, I suspect it'll also be fine on smaller ones.

I use the swan neck removable to tow an 8m twin axle caravan. It sits level and tows great
also towed it with the adjustable and didnt notice any difference so put the swan neck back on as its easier to remove.Duncan

I agree with DiscoDunc, I have a 6.3m twin axle caravan and I've towed it to Italy and back. The removable tow hook will be spot on. discodeeva

Thanks guy's. I did not specify the adjustable version at order so it will come with the standard removable swan neck - just needed to know that was adequate for a small trailer ( bed length is circa 4.5 to 4.8m IIRC).

Victoria, DTM is right - I ordered at the very end of Feb so it will be close to 3 months and thats assuming I do get the car I actually ordered Had a recent experience with a new Lotus which we ordered and were told after 10 weeks wait that they had forgotten to include the Air Con We rejected that car - funny how it then led to a Disco (not much difference I know) - but thats another story.
I'll let you know when I actually get it. Hope yours comes to you soon.
