Think I have the gear lever issue..
Hi all,
Had a couple of times over the last two days where both my wife and myself have pulled up at a junction, left the car in gear, then accelerated to find there is no power (engine is revving).. When it happened to me, it seemed to pick up the gear within about 3 - 4 seconds, then all was OK. With my wife, she put the car into P then D about 4 times and eventually it got the gear and moved off.
Does this sound like the gear lever issue?
Does anyone have an idea of approximate cost (indie) to fox it?
I'm sure I saw wiki on fixing this yourself but I can't seem to find it now.. any pointers?
Any help would be appreciated..Selling my wifes Audi A3 2.0LTR FSI DSG Sport to help pay for her D3

Sounds like a gear leaver issue, get spraying with some spray grease on the hinge. Just take the cover off, 10mm socket, even I can do it.
No idea if that's DM's way but it's worked wonders for me. Beats having it happen on a petrol station forecourt & being pulled to the dealer behind a 110.

Actually my wife was crossing a dual carriageway with the kids on board when it happened, just pulled off to join the traffic..she was terrified.. I'm trying to brush it under the carpet by telling her its a common problem.. we can fix it easily...Selling my wifes Audi A3 2.0LTR FSI DSG Sport to help pay for her D3

I use this stuff, well used once & it's fixed it. I carry the can in te car & a 10mm socket incase I have it again. You just need to drop the front or rear of the gearbox cover & spray the pivot linkage, easy to see & spray. Work the lever back & forward then it will feel better and should be sorted. Really easy, non techie and if I can do it an untrained chimp on speed can.
PS Not my idea, thanks to Mac303 for the How To.

Just adding someinformation about this issue..
I've just arrived home and quizzed my wife what she did just prior to the issue. She had just removed the car from the snow setting, around 200 yards before it happened. Funnily enough, so had I when it happened to me the day before. So. Is it a case that this issue was caused by the transition between snow mode and normal? Has anyone else had this happen to them?Selling my wifes Audi A3 2.0LTR FSI DSG Sport to help pay for her D3

Hmmmm, just got a bit more complicated. Never heard of this and last 2 winters have been in & out of snow more times than SWMBO & Costas without any issues. Might be a coincidence, happens frequently on D3s. I know when it's revving freely you have other things to worry about, many with Scania badges, but was D in the lower right screen? Also when switching snow off, dd it say SPECIAL PROGRAM'S OFF??

Wonder if it's a spec progs switch issue? When mine went iffy (just revved, no drive) D wasn't in the display. We need someone more techy than me.

A quick update. Staffordshire 4x4 (site sponser) have taken a look at the issue. Firstly they couldn't duplicate the fault, which I couldn't either so no surprise.. They have removed the under tray, checked, all looked ok. They have cleaned and greased, just in case. They have also cleaned my map sensor at my request.. Checked on the faultmate for any transmission faults. There was one, but they think that was one they created trying to get the car to duplicate the problem. So, all in all it has a clean bill of health. Will keep an eye on it just in case.Selling my wifes Audi A3 2.0LTR FSI DSG Sport to help pay for her D3
