strip on roof of car fallen off |
|
Hi everyone,
One of those long metal strips on the roof of my D3 has come off. I don´t suppose many people have noticed them unless they are 7 ft tall, but these metal strips run along the length of the roof either side of where the Sunroof is (or would be).
Anyone know how to get the damn thing to stick back down ? It just won´t fix back properly. It happened ages ago and I got it to stick back down that time, but its just lifted again so want to sort it properly now.
They have like a white clip inside them, I am not sure where to place this, maybe I just got lucky last time I had to fix it back down - Perhaps these clips need renewing ? Any ideas ?
Cheers.

Sounds like the trim clips that hold it done are now no longer holding properly
you need some new ones

When I removed my trim strips, I noticed that there was a blob of what looked like blu-tak on the leading edge.Maybe someone can advise what it really was.
Best wishes,

Purely out of curiosity, why did you remove them ?
Did they fix back down OK after ? Do you have to line the clips up with anything ?
Cheers.

Hi Fred,
I removed them so I could courier a fellow D3's roofrack from QLD to Canberra. I broke some clips at the time. (Unfortunately, his D3 was written off due to an engine bay fire.)
I have since fitted my own roofrack, but now need to install at least part of the trim for appearance purposes.
Best Wishes.
