Well you all know people who have one, so Ithought I'd ask here.
One of the other Scout leaders want's a def'ner 90 (possibly 110, but preference is for 90).
She missed out on one for £2,700 because she hesitated too long, so now wants to buy and will be decisive about the right one.
Around £3k.
Would like it to be reasonably tidy and a 200Tdi engine in it.
Ideal options included:-
Visibly tidy
Chequer Plate on wings
Lifted, but not extreme
Rook Rack
Tow Bar
'proper' seats in the back i.e. with seatbelts
Anyone has anything like this they no longer need, then please let me know. Bodsys Brake Bible
D4/D3 Remote FBH heat kits
BAS Remaps/ EGR Blank
Transmission Flush
Software updates/enabling
Clock/ SNOTM /3Flash / 4x4Info /BT Update /Service Reset/Error Codes / Gearbox Reset

Higher! Higher! Seriously, need to price a little higher for "visibly tidy" I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Dunc, your V8 beast would have been a little extreme for the needs (mainly lugging Scout stuff around 8) ) Bodsys Brake Bible

Lugging scout stuff and proper seats with seat belts in the back screams 110 to me.
I work in the woods all day in my 90 and there's still not enough room for my gear really.
Lift is unnecessary unless she's going really extreme - will serve to make the centre of gravity higher and unless cranked arms fitted as well it won't steer so well. Unless of course the lift is for pose then

Lift is for pose and would only need to be minimal lift. not talking 3" + dislocating cones or anything like that.
Spacers on wheels as well to give it a wider stance (doens't want much does she!)
Lugging can also be done by connecting any one of 3 different sankey trailers we have available to us Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi,
I have a Defender 90 200tdi (1989), which I might sell if you are interested.
It was rebuilt from chassis upwards and comes with a Recon "Gold Seal" 200tdi Engine.
Comes with Galv. Chassis (so very solid)...Probably one of the straightest Defenders you will ever see.
It is Coniston Green with a White Roof. It has power steering with three seats in the front.
It doesn't have a Roof Rack, but it does have 1no forward facing rear seat with seatbelt and a bench seat. The front as a slight lift/heavy duty springs, as I believe it once had a winch.
It comes with an adjustable towbar and electrics.
I'm after a tad more than £3k though, as it is a genuine unmolested Defender that is extremely solid.
Let me know if you are interested...I don't really want to sell it, but for the right money I would let her go.
Thanks,
Liam
p.s. it comes with chequer plate on the wings also.

if you only lift by 2 inches then you wont need to change the radius arsm or prop shafts.
However, if its just for ferrying scouts around - why not just get a cattle trailer Duncan

How tall is she, as without steps she may struggle to get into a lifted 90... 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I would also discount your "options" list, and find the best possible 90 Tdi of any description within the budget - the beauty of a 90/Defender is that bits can be added very cheaply, and any parts you don't want taken off. It seems daft narrowing your search to one with a couple of inch lift when this can be done for as little as £200!
You're likely to be in for more like £4k+ for a tidy 200 Tdi, but you might find an older 90 that's had a Discovery lump retrofitted for somewhere near the budget - does it need to be a factory 200 Tdi? There are actually quite a few Tdi retrofits (including with Defender engines) on eBay at the minute for less than £3k
I would advise buying the best possible, even if that means increasing the budget - as she's unlikely to lose money at resale on a considered purchase at, say £4k, and it's likely to require less money spending on it than a bargain (shed?) at £2,700. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Totally agree with martin, do try to raise your budget a bit so you dont end up with a shed, good luck with your search.
