Not wishing to sound like a Viz top tips circa 1988 but...
get a lump of foam, and cut with bread knife to fit neatly in the seat belt recess. Stops the buckles dropping out of view and makes strapping children in so much easier.
Did this after losing the side steps at Salisbury and SWMBO finds getting the children in the car easier now.
Non-family passengers do take an age to belt up as they can't find the clip "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Yep Steve, they sort of fall out or get squashed. But it only takes 2 seconds to remove them when I remember - I guess though this doesn't work so well if 3rd row used daily. However I only use ours every few weeks so no great problem.
Does make seat belts much easy and stops SWMBO from complaining. You can do the seat belt blind without looking now when you used to have to stand on the step, lean over the seat and use two hands to lift the buckle and belt them in.
Much better since I destroyed the steps on the car last outing in Salisbury.

Good tip for LR to have a push and click thingy to spring the seat belt socket up. (Pat Pending by me)
I have a similar shaped section wedged into the trim below the stearing wheel, just above the crotch cooler to stop an annoying squeek.

I have just completed this mod, what a cracking idea.
I have some spare foam if people want it. I can cut about 6 cars worth out of the material (all rear buckles).
I'll be at the next SE meeting and the next Off Road trip out if any one wants to bag some FOC.

We find that a couple of pairs of rolled up socks does the trick....that, or leave the kids at home.Previous cars

My 6 year old came up with the fix for this one before I saw this thread!
He simply dropped a tennis ball in the gap! Better still we always have a ball for the dogs with us!

I had a courtesy car a few weeks ago with cloth seats. In this, the seatbelt buckles were vertical to begin with. I don't know whether this is standard on cloth seats but the seat cushions are the same shape as my leather ones.
Not that it helps much in this discussion...

My kids have come up with a similar solution - fill the void with sticky 'orrible bits of food, lollipos, sweet wrappers, etc.
Bless their cotton socks...
We threw an old foam swimming buoyancy aid yesterday, so I'd best go and rescue it and get out the stanley knife.
