Watch out

I'm trying to sort insurance out for the D4 as we return to UK at the end of the month, and it's turning into a nightmare. Thought I had a great deal untill I looked a little closer. First problem I've had is a lot of UK companies now want a tracker fitted to vehicles with a worth above £30k, Direct Line and Swiftcover, even more annoyed about Swiftcover because unlike Directline they don't actualy tell you this on the quote screen, it was only after I had the quote and decided to amend the excess that I noticed that the sum insured was only £30K. Heard good things about NFU, gave them a call, really good policy, also cover off road use for social, domestic and pleasure, only time your not covered is if your competing/racing in a paid event, £800 for me and SWMBO.
Tried a couple of the Screen scraper sites, Confused.com etc etc, not too sure about some of their panel of insures as I've never heard of them, best named insurer was M&S at £608 with 300 excess. LV also insisted on a tracker because of vehicle value as did Tesco. So unless anyone has any other idea's I think we will go with NFU, I also like the idea of the agent having a local office to where we are moving to.

NFU also cover the gap insurance for two years (new vehicle in the event of a write-off). With other insurers, it's an extra I believe.

Steve,

The business pays for my insurance, but just a thought, SWMBO had her LR covered with NFU for years, until about two years ago and their premiums increased dramatically. She changed to Sheilas Wheels with me and my eldest son as a named drivers and saved a small fortune also with a much better cover package.
Might be worth considering putting your cars insurance in your wifes name when you get back:whistle:

I also understand that they offer upto an extra 15% discount if your a member of an owners club/forum Thumbs Up

We've also insured our D3 (which is my good lady's) via Sheila's wheels - best price by far.

Just tried Sheila, premium was £830 like for like with NFU, probably because SWMBO is a few years younger than me Whistle and with a lot less NCD. Worth a try though, cheers for the help Thumbs Up
