| ride comparision D3 v D4. |

My wife and I had a test ride in a D4 yesterday. We both got out of the car saying " The ride is different!" It felt a bit jiggly, in fact quite a lot. Both felt that seats were less comfortable. We have an 08 HSE D3, drove a 59 D4 HSE so the comparison should be straightforward. Has any one else had this sensation from the suspension. The rest of the car seemed magic.

I doubt if it was the wheel sizes, demo vehicles do not usually have variations fitted, but I did not check. I did play with the "jiggle" switch but most of the time the car was in normal ride mode. Will try another dealer during the week end.

I'd say that the ride is a little firmer, which (depending upon road surface) might make it jiggle. However, it despite the slight firmness compared to my last D3, the ride overall if superior and road handling is different altogether.
I find the seats a great deal more comfortable than the D3, though it takes a little while to get all the settings right.

I've had D4 loaner for the last 6 days whilst mine was in for two new drive shafts and I much prefer the D4 over the D3. The ride was much better in the D4 over a variety of different road surfaces with a lot less body roll and break dive. The seats seemed pretty comfortable but I didn't doña journey of more than an hour and a half. Club Exped trailer

The D4 has a fatter ARB and handles better on road with less body roll.

Your perception is correct.
A member on here from outback NSW, couldn't test drive a D4 before he ordered it and so drove a D3 instead. His wife has back problems and they were pleased with the D3 ride.
Now that the D4 has arrived, his wife has trouble riding in it and so he is modifying suspension components in order to soften the ride.

the D4 is definatly firmer and steering a little tighter. Even on the motorway you feel the bumps in the D4 more than the D3. I still have the D3, and drive both, on a regular basis. The seats in the D4 are a little deeper so support the backs of your knees a little more. However, if you are a shortarse this can be a little less comfortable.
My wife has a bad back (5 Operations se far  ) and finds the D4 a little more comfortable. The heated seats help her back more than the D3 as they can be set for a constant heat and have 3 rather than 2 settings, they also give more heat coverage up her back. Duncan

Swapping both ARBs for D3 ones made a big difference even though they are the same diameter. When the shocks warm up and get harsher, the improvment isn't so much though. Lowering 20mm to high speed height IMO makes it steer around corners better than before as the steering now has good feel compared with being overly sensitive originally.

Don't rule it out. Our dealer has 20 inch wheels on its demo.

D4 has the suspension and brakes from a RRS which is why it feels taughter on the road. To be honest I found the drivers seat more comfortable than my D3. Certainly a firmer ride than the D3 but still very nice 8) but unfortunately it's way outside my price range at the moment

I think the D4 is a far better ride than the D3. However the first test drive I had was in a D4 with 20" wheels and this was a terrible ride, D4 with 19" wheels is very nice in my opinion. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
