Drivers seat problem
Has anyone ese had this problem? My seat base appears to have slid forward, and might even be a bit loose. It has become such that I can feel this big gap on my bum, yet when seated, I can slide the base back slightly with my calves to close the gap a little. Still it's getting more annoying, so if anyone else has dismantled their seat and noticed if there is any adjustment or any other solution to this problem, your knowledge would be appreciated!
I thought I better add, I'm not a big guy, neither do I have a massive bum! So not really sure why this has occurred!D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

Whilst standing beside the seat, can you more the seat base any bit with your hands?A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

Only slightly. You can move it up and down a small amount, and back and forward about 2-3mm but not easily. I wouldn't say it was 'very' loose. I just wish I could close the gap. I wonder if there is some adjustment?D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

RJ, if it moves up and down the bolts holding the seat down could be loose - how they became loose is a mystery but it could be your issue. I havent heard of it as a common issue. The seat base is held down to the frame with 4 bolts - 2 at the front, 2 at the back.
Quiet hard to get to unless you undo the four floor bolts holding in the whole seat and tip it back or take it out of the car altogether.A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

Thanks Tanters, I'll have a look at it. I'm not scared to have a go, I just thought I'd call upon eveyones experience before I started to strip it down, in case there was a known problem.
Is the seat base bolted through slots or holes? What I mean is, I'm trying to understand how it has slid forward, like maybe if it is on slots, it would explain how the bolts may have loosened and the base slid forward on the slots. If it's holes, I'm not sure why it has happened, or how I'll be able to fix it! I was hoping that I could just loosen the mounts, slide the base back and tighten them up again...??D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

The rear of the seat base is bolted to a 'U' shaped bar going from once side to the other on the frame that when the base is off it, rotates/ swings almost 360o. I'm thinking that if the bolts at the front of the seat were loose then the seat could move in theory. I'm not 100% on this but once you get the seat up you can rule this out atleast
edit to add pic: the last bracket on the left is the 'U' shaped one - you'll see the two holes for the bolts

Did you solve this gap problem? I have the same issue on mine..
The seat base is very loose vertically in front, and dosn't tilt properly upward. It has also slided forward so that the base crashes with the heating element/module under the seat base in front.Land Rover - It Hurts So Good

Land Rover GTR has a TSB for this. Under certain heavy load conditions to the front of the seat cushion, the front tilt bracket may pivot causing the gap to appear at the cushion/backrest line. The fix is to replace the bracket with a new one, pn HGM500010. Thats better than the garage's advice; replacing both the seat base frame and backrest frame at a cost of 2100 GBP pluss labour here in Norway!!Land Rover - It Hurts So Good
