Warranty Issue With Steering Wheel
I have asked my dealer to replace my standard leather steering wheel under warrantly as it has worn considerably from the 12 to 2 position. A number of members in other posts have indicated that they were given smooth steering wheels as a replacement. I would appreciate this too! However, my dealer Guy Salmon at Knutsford has said that I can only have a standard wheel and has declined my offer to pay the differance, saying it can't be done - the wheel comes direct from landrover.
Could I ask anyone who has been in a similar position, what steering wheel did you get as a replacement, did you get a smooth one, did you ask for a smooth one, did you pay anything towards it, and who your dealer was.
Thanks everyone.2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather, towing a Coachman VIP 575
some of the "standard" wheels have now superseeded over to smooth leather any way but if it's standard NON leather then like for like, dealers are not allowed to do upgrade on warranty.
if you have NO telephone and NO voice input, you'll get a smooth leather
if you HAVE telephone and HAVE voice then you'll get a smooth leather
if you have NO telephone but HAVE voice you'll het smooth leather

I have the same issue with my wheel, worn at the top. Would this be covered under the approved used warranty?
It is really annoying.
Kind regards

I'd assume it would. All you can do ask, and all they can say is no. 17 Discovery 5 HSE Si6, Fuji White on brown | 07 LR3 SE 4.4 Java Black on Alpaca

Depends on warranty level, LR basic warranty (select??) doesn't seem to cover much, from people's experiences the other one isn't much better. Don't forget extended warranty is not provided by LR, it's Car Care Plan. Read your small print would be my advice then ask, you may be lucky.

I had a grained leather wheel fitted by my local dealer about 18 months ago, and when it was in last week asked them to have a look at it as it has worn badly (smooth on the surface from around 9 to 12 on the face)
Was quite shocked to be told sorry mate thats wear and tear, cant get that replaced!
Took mine in this morning - both the top of the wheel and the 10 to 2 positions were wearing and after driving for 10-15 minutes became sticky - to the extent you could see my fingerprints in them!
Took it in for a check this morning - they promptly changed it for a new smooth wheel - no questions asked, no charge, great stuff.

New smooth steering wheel fitted at Guy Salmon, Knutsford, together with the 4 Wintrac Extremes I bought from a tyre dealer from Hull over the phone at a very good price £138 each (Camskills didn't have any) (all 4 fitted for £56)
Thanks to everyone for their encouraging comments!!2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather, towing a Coachman VIP 575

steering wheel needed....
Hi - can somebody help me get a new steering wheel pls...
Mine is worn at the standard 12-2 position and I am now out of warranty (extended)
I have an HSE with all of the standard buttons (cruise, volume, voice etc)
How much would a new one be ? How easy are they to fit ? What about the airbag ?
