Off topic - Accommodation in Zim.
Planning to take D3 on first long trip to Vic falls area in June 07.
Can anyone advise me on chalet type accommodation within the Vic falls National Park as well as Hwange National Park. Research to date only shows camping, although I have heard that non-camping accommodation is available. Contact numbers, e.mail, websites will be appreciated.
Thanks
Only 7 sleeps to delivery of D3

Hi Deon
According to my friend Paulo (the best navigator in Africa!)
"We have previously stayed at Maramba River Lodge in Vic Falls. It is on the river up-stream from the Falls. There are, however, many places (see websites)

At Hwange we stayed in the main camp in some chalets. We booked through the Zim National Parks (don't have their number, but they seldom answered anyway). I am almost sure that no booking is necessary, as the place was empty. There are some camps (chalets, lodges, etc) in the north of the Park which and apparently more up-market, and there is also a very nice hotel just outside the main gate (gardens overlook a waterhole in the park). I don't have the numbers but I am sure you could get these if you googled "Hwange". "
Hope this helps. If you need more, PM me & I will put you in touch with Paulo

We've stayed in chalets a couple of times in Vic falls NP . Hwange also has chalets at Robin's camp , Main camp and at Sinemetela (SP?) - shouldn't be neccesary to book anywhere as you will probably have the whole place to yourself . Watch out for petty theft everywhere , a new development in Zimbabwe
