exhaust trim on d4

Having fitted a pair of the rear facing chrome exhaust trims, which a lot of us bought cheap early in the year, I'm now finding the front of my caravan is getting well & truly splattered with oily black exhaust deposits. It's a d4 with the particulate filter fitted, & only done 8000 miles, so is this normal? I have now removed the trims which is a pity as I thought they looked rather good.

Put your trims back on and buy a front towing cover for the caravan, costs about £80, takes approximately 5-10 minutes to fit, nice clean caravan!!! Specialised Covers is the one I have link is - http://www.caravancovers.com/index.php?pag...ccessories
