Needs to be changed on the 105k service along with the pump belt at the rear of the engine.

No timing chains on the TDV6 other landys have chains.
There are two belts on the TDV6 the timing belt at the front of the engine and an aux belt at the back, both should be changed at 105k miles.
Changing the belt at the front isn't too bad, but the one at the back is difficult. It used to be that the body had to be lifted off to do this and I believe some dealers still do this, but there are locking kits available now so you don't have to take the body off.
I'll try and document the procedure in a couple of weeks when I do mine. I was due to do it a couple of weeks ago but the locking kit didn't arrive in time.D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Just to be a PITA, it has both a belt and chain(s)
Belt is at the front of the engine driving one camshaft in each head, which is connected to the 2nd cam (in each head) via a chain at the rear. My D3 Build Thread

Thanks Richard - did you do the job yourself? I see the idlers look new in your picture - which other bits should be changed? I'm wondering about the seal on the belt cover, the seal on the accessory belt idler (which fixes through the timing belt cover), and the timong belt tensioner itself. If you've got any tips on doing this job that would be really useful Cheers Previously:

As has already been said, yes they do. I was told that they had to be changed at 105,000 miles or 7 years whichever comes first.
