HI,

just wondered is anyone here is familiar with this product/provider? It is mentioned by Honest John. Looks fantastic value though...

England

looks too good to be true..... but if it is, and they can do all they say for the price then it will really shake up the AA and RAC as its 1/4 the price....
 Still miss my D3 Sad

The breakdown cover seems to be one of the various policies they seem to be selling around legal advice (strangely I'm reminded of those personal accident ads on the TV). I'm not sure I'd go with breakdown cover from an outfit like this, at least not until they have some verifiable track record.

Here's an HJ thread that refers to them:
http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=85967

They say:
Quote:
AutoSure Assist is delivered by a leading European breakdown assistance service

The leading secret one? Note terminology (yes, I work with lawyers Twisted Evil ), breakdown assistance service not breakdown service. Now AFAIK you'll find the RAC, AA etc refer to themselves as breakdown services, not breakdown assistance service. I take the former as running a fleet of vans etc to help you at the roadside, the latter a call centre that tries to find you someone who will come out. Colud be wrong but I'd want more info on that.

I've had a quick scoot over the small print here:
http://autosure.eu/index.php?option=com_co...licy-terms

This isn't a product I'd personally buy.

Heres a couple of comparisons based on the my reading on the T&C's of Autosure and the RAC (note I'm not a lawyer and I follow a plain English, typical consumer approach to reading them, so if its wrong it may be badly written or unclear Shocked ) :

UK Breakdown situation:

Autosure: £100 towards hire car, single rail ticket for 1 person. Accommodation for driver max £60, or if group £40 each up to 7 people, total max £280 Quote "If we decide to provide overnight accommodation..." but can't find on what basis they decide.

RAC: 3 days car hire. Accommodation arranged and paid for up to 8 people, limits £150 each or £500 group.

Euro motorway breakdown (AA/RAC types patrols not allowed in many countries):
Autosure: £60 limit on recovery from motorway
RAC: no limit as far as I can see

To sum up, it appears compared to the RAC, that it may be cheaper up front but you may end up out of pocket if you need to use it. Have a good read of the T&C's - things like "If we decide" could translate into "we won't" unless somewhere it clearly states on what basis they decide (e.g. unlimited cover when there's a Z in the month)

Anyway, you pays your money and makes your choice.

PS do a UK goggle search of the lady's name used in the blog Wink
