Desperate for HELP, installing Parrot CK3100!

Guys,

Installing my Parrot CK3100 today, got the ISO cable for the D3 and connected up all the cables/connectors etc as stated in the book and website but can't seem to get power to the Parrot head unit, the stereo is working through the new connections ok.

Is there anything else I need to do apart from connect all cables, do I need to find a seperate power supply for the head unit as it doesnt state that in the guide?

Anyone else had this issue?

Cheers

Cheers mate,

Do you know where he made the actual connection into the parrot, was it in the fused wire or the blue box?

its not the perm live feed you need to change, you need to run the orange down to the cig lighter - thats the igg feed

Hi mate, thanks for that.

Where do I run the cable from, do I solder a new cable into the top end of the fuse from the cig lighter or pull the orange wire out of the connector and extend it down to the cig lighter??

Sorry, crap with this stuff. not got a clue.

Does your Parrot loom not have 2 fuses with trailing leads?

It has red & orange cables with fuses in them, they run from a grey connector (see photo above) down to a white connector into the blue parrot box, I assumed once everything was connected it would take the power from the stereo connections as they have power in them? It doesnt say in the instructions to run a seperate power lead!

Cheers

cut the orange wire between the fuse holder and the grey iso plug - insulate the iso end of the wire then run the orange with fuse holder to cig lighter, once fitted pair a phone, test call, then remove keys - kit should say "goodbye"

Hi mate,

Took a link from the cig lighter as you said, i take it the green/white was the supply and black is ground.

The only thing is i snipped the orange wire after i connected the cable to the cig lighter and heard a fuse go underneath, not sure what one though, when i switch the ignition on the dash lights up but the car wont start?

Any ideas??

Cheers

Stephen, While I've no idea what you might have done there, is it possible the noise you heard was not a fuse but a relay dropping out? It seems odd that cutting a wire would blow a fuse - where is the electrical circuit to draw the current? What happens if you (temporarily) reconnect the wire you cut?

if it was a very big thick orange wire, did you snip the CAN bus by mistake? i.e. the optical fibre ring used by the car for units to talk with one and an other. if the end of the cable has a red flashing light this is the case. if it has a copper core, it is not.

The orange wire was from the Parrot, its not part of the cars internal wiring, I was taking a power supply from the cig lighter (green/White wire) to connect to the parrots orange 12V supply!

Going through fuses just now, no luck yet!

Cheers

Thanks for your help guys,

It turned out to be the Audio fuse that blew and the reason the engine wouldn't start is because I had the head unit for the Air Con disconnected.

Learn something new everyday!!

What can I break next?

Thanks to AlanG who came to my rescue! Bow down
