My 2005 TDV6 audio system has stopped functiong. It will turn on and off and shows AUX selected. I can't change the input or get any noise out of it. Ican't access the clock or anything to reset time. Anyone seen anything like this? Disco 2 TD5 "Good"
Disco 3 TDV6 "Better"
Disco 4 HSE SDV6 "Best"

Hi there,
Had a similar problem with mine on a trip back from Skye last month, It packed up 1 hr into a 15 hr drive, Oh how I laughed.
After 3 hrs I stopped at the services and locked the car up, on return, it was all working correctly... no further problems since I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

Mines been doing this since I've had it.
It happens once every few weeks.
Turn off, lock the car, leave it 15mins and hey presto tunes are back.
Just a little hissy fit I reckon!

As many will know, the Hi or Premium audio systems use a fibre optic MOST (Media Oriented System Transport) bus.
This is a great system IMHO, but it does have a drawback in that the MOST bus is a loop circuit going in and out of each connected ECU in turn before being finally connected back to the first ECU in the loop. (The Integrated Head unit)
Each ECU takes the light sent it by the one before and then re creates and transmits it to the next.
If any ECU has a hissy fit or loss of power and stops doing this, the chain is broken and the system goes down like a deck of cards.
As many will know, i personally retro fitted my own base spec D3 with a MOST system.
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic37092.html?
However not long after, the system started playing up, shutting down and blowing a fuse.
I tracked this down to a common seat mount problem you might want to look at.
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic37595.html?highlight=
This solved the problem, however several months later and as yet undocumented here, i discovered a problem that high lights just how sensitive this system is to problems. The symptoms being that the system would go silent whan i hit a bump or opened the rear tail gate.
In my initial retro fitment, due to not then having long lengths of MOST bus fibre optic bits, I elected to re locate the Phone and TMC units close to the Centre Console area. In doing so i neglacted to appreciate that i was not supplying the TMS unit with a direct "to body" earth.
However the Unit was getting an earth via the cosx cable connected to the TMC antennea amplifier mounted in the tail gate and everything worked OK.
The earth to the tailgate was on my D3 provided soley via the hinges, (I note on other later D3's that thare is an additional earth strap). A bump or opening of the tailgate was all that was required to isolate this earth, causing my TMC to power down and break the MOST bus Chain.
I hope this helps some.

Mine has done this a couple of times in the last week, (base CD400 set up). On the way to work yesterday it froze on one station with no volume, I couldnt change station or anything, but it would switch on and off. I switched the car off when I arrived at work with the radio still on (but switching the ignition off turned the radio off). When I came out knackered ten hours later and started the car, the radio was blaring and freely changed stations!

I keep having problems with my radio/cd etc. I have to remove the fuse for the system then refit it. It then re-boots itself then I’m ok for a few weeks. Marvellous isn’t it.
