Which bluetooth kit for iPhone 3 GS |
|
Hi,
I've got an iPhone that I also use for SatNav with a Tom Tom mount. I was goiung to get a bluetooth kit fitted and was wondering if there were any recommendations.
Would be good to be able to play music over the bluetooth rather than plug into Aux as now.
I've got a 2006 Discovery 3 XS. No sat nav.
Cheers,
John

I have the Parrot MK6100 which has worked fine for me with both my Nokias and my current 3Gs.
I picked this as it had the separate screen so I've got the small wireless buttons next to my EPB, which I can just drop my hands down to answer/hang up calls and screen on dash to right of wheel.
Pic is in my gallery.
It also streams music, so for instance load up a song on YouTube and it plays through speakers, although now and again sound can get choppy.
Also nicely syncs the phone book from the 3GS so you can browse phonebook on the parrots screen.

I've got Parrot systems in my D3 and VW for iPhone 4 and Blackberry and my wife has Bury Music in her VW for iPhone 3GS. No contest which is better: Bury Music wins hands down.
Instead of just phone integration with Parrot, Bury allows both wired and wireless connection for playing music, along with charging if 3GS is plugged in. Also, it's got a touchscreen and can connect to all our phones so can choose which to answer. Also voice control is much simpler than Parrot.
I'm not sure if I am allowed to mention who fitted ours, but if so, it's AVR at www.avrmobiles.co.uk. The engineer was with us the day after we received the unit via courier.
I am going to swap both Parrots for the Bury as soon as possible...

Thanks Macleod , was it a plugin install or did you have to tap into the wiring

Not got the Bury Music installed in my D3 yet, but I am assured by the engineer that fitted it to my wife's VW that it is easy to rip out my Parrot and install Bury Music. Well, for him to fit anyway, not me. I have the standard stereo for the S model, which may or may not be HK.
Parrot CK3100 was easily installed in my D3 a few years ago, so I don't know why Halfords would say that. Maybe you got the same employee as me when I asked for D3 wiper blades: "Sorry, that model is now discontinued so we don't hold it in stock anymore". This went on for ages until I pointed out the slot were they should have been was next to a full rack of mk1 Escort wiper blades.

Actually that's not quite correct - our mObridge Bluetooth system we adapted to the optical fiber setup some time ago that fits in seamlessly to the LR vehicles and will give you complete handsfree calling with caller id and phone book. It works quite well and it uses a Parrot chipset also as well as being nicely invisible!

I spoke to an installer and he had done a Parrot previously.
I'm going to go for the MKi9200, however, I'm going to wait until the iOS4 problems have been resolved. Apparently updating to iOS4 kills it and Parrot are recommending not to upgrade.
This seems to be a general problem with iOS4 as numerous other problems with bluetooth are being reported on Apple forums.

Hi,
Does the mobridge unit require it's own mic or can it use the factory mic?
Thanks!
