"Legal" Aspects of Off Roading. |
|
Where does one find the Regulations which apply to the necessity for:
MOT;
Insurance;
Road Tax;
etc
when "Off Roading", please?
And - "When is a Road not a Road?", in this context, e. g. Is a Green Lane a Road?
Thanx in advance.

A "Green Lane" is a public road. It is treated as any other public road, in as much as you have to have road tax, insurance, mot if needed, wear seatbelt, and drive with due care and consideration to others. I believe the national speed limit applies also.
An "off road site" is not public highway, so non of the above at the operators discretion i would imagine. Although lots of disclaimers would almost certainly be needed.

many normal ie cheap, insurance policies dont cover green lane driving - so when you see a ford fiesta or any other vehilce, driving down a gravel Byway - its most probable that its not covered by their insurance !! Duncan
