Discovery 3 OEM Hands free
Hello I know this has been asked before but it always seems to go quiet but has anyone actually managed to retrofit OEM Bluetooth my disco is a 2005 se and currently has one of those very annoying parrot systems fitted but I’d rather rip that out and use the Land Rover system I know I’ll need the module and the buttons for the side of the steering wheel but what else - Thank you

The disco 4 BT is much better and much easier to retrofit, so ppl go that route.
You need gap iid £450
You need to 6cd player with the orange optical bus
If you have the voice button on steering wheel you should already have a mic
Do you have the colour display in Center ?

So mine was like yours. No factory BT.
I just fitted D4 module, set fitted with gap iid tool (have to do that if it’s a d3 or d4)
And it works.
Fitting D4 is just 2 power wires (as seen in the pic above)
And an orange fibre adapter loop £12
Where as fitting D3 factory would be loads of wires and the orange fibre again.
Ok, you may not need all those d3 wires, I can’t remember.
And the D4 is far better for BT,
Where as D3 BT is poor
Many ppl have done the d4 fit from scratch

I did this twice on D3s in 2012 & 2016, following a thread here by excellent engineer WIGGS
Bought the JLR mic., which fits inside the panel containing the front internal light switches behind/above the mirror. I MIGHT have one of those mics stashed somewhere if you can't find one ?
Bought the JLR steering wheel pickup/hangup switches, also the D4 BT unit.
Needed a tweak to the CCF using IID tool, also orange fibre bus extension, and pair of power wires (DON'T forget to fit a FUSE !!!)
Best to search for those postings by WIGGS; good description & photos.
You'll get a really good hands-free setup.
I found there was JUST enough room to slide the BT unit into a free slot in the central HiFi stack, instead of stuffing it behind internal trim. I was worried this might be a bad idea due to blocking ventilation/cooling of electronics, but in practice nothing ever seemed to get too hot.
Cheers ))
