England 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Manual Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3
This is my first ever post on any forum anywhere.

HI EVERYONE and please excuse if post is in wrong place/wrong time/wrong anything really, i am a computer idiot !!! I Have an 05MY TDV6 HSE MANUAL (Phantom) yeah i know, with 38k and i absolutely love it, and having discovered this forum is now even better, which is why i joined. Thanks to this forum i have blanked the usual with kit from Pete (absolutely amazing difference) wiil also purchase a remap from him in the new year, turned the darned seat belt chime off 'phew', and learnt loads of tips about the EPB amonst other things, which is why i am writting. Is it better to use all the EPB all the time/infrequently/never ? I know we all have differing opinions on things but there are some very knowledgable people on here and i really do appreciate it.
THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ WHAT MUST BE A VERY BORING TOPIC TO YOU.

MARK.

Thank you bodsey and J@mes for very quick replies, as you say with a manual i dont really have a choice, but if you hold EPB switch down then turn ign off and remove key it nearly always stays off, but will admit not always, this tip was learnt from this brill forum and i do respect your opinion as you are obviously one of the brake kings with your brill brake guide.

Mark,

How do you stop your car from rolling if you are on a hill if you're always switching the EPB off....?

You can leave it in gear, but I'd personally just use the EPB and keep it well maintained. Thumbs Up

I use mine all day, everyday. Have only had it scream once (well a couple of times the same day a couple of years ago) but after adjusting and then since maintaining, all has been well Thumbs Up

bodsy

yeh im with you and i should have been more spacific, the disco doesnt get used everyday and where i park at home is totaly flat and leave in gear, also when out i try to just leave in gear but obviously have to use when needs arise, what im worried about is as i dont use vehicle every day im worried it may get stuck on or develope other probs, basically i would sooner use the EPD all the time and not have to worry about it, just reassurance i need i suppose and to know what most others would do.
Thanks for the replies

Mark

Hi Marky,
I'm not going to answer for everyone, but I also have a manual (with about 75k km - about 46.5k miles). I ALWAYS allow the epb to engage automatically and, touch wood, have had no epb issues.

Best Wishes,
Peter

EPB Usage of

Thank you for response, and pretty much as expected the overall opinion is to use the EPD full time which i shall now do, as i said i was worried because you do hear some horror stories and only using the d3 irregularly during the week i thought might actually make matters worse, still i shall take your advise which is what i asked for and when things go wrong i know who to blame (only joking) Laughing Thanks for help, much appreciated

Hi jamieg7762

It is a Hillmoren, some people say ok. some people say no, myself having had a few issues with the car as many of us have had, i cant really grumble about them, anything requiring attention they put it straight into LR and had fixed i even complained that the brake fluid had no recent paper work supporting a change, they booked into LR and had it changed, cant really ask for more,

Mark.
