Tailgate protection?

I wonder if anyone knows where I can purchase some sort of convenient tailgate protection? As i stand on the tailgate to get my skis in and out of the roof box quite a bit, it would be nice not to ruin the tailgate completely.

Some of the bootliners which have been discussed on this site have a tailgate protection flap. I have one and so far it has done a good job in stopping any damage from my dog and children!

Or buy a bit of pond liner rubber (nice and thick) tuck it half under the rear mat / tray if you have one then roll up the bit that is left against the boot edge, then when you open the bottom half just unroll it towards you - cheap and cheerful!

@Peternc, I have one of those bootliners (OEM) and only this weekend I figured out I had the thing fitted inside out. its shiny side up wich is wrong for the zips but right for the two tailgate clips, the suction cups are a right pain in the a*se as well, they keep popping out of the straps, Censored to refit. Any tips?

2DISCO3ORNOT. Sounds like I've got a different one to you but with a pretty similar issue, the fastenings aren't that great. I've solved it (well, it's worked for the 2 weeks that I've had it) by buying a roll of heavy duty velcro to make my own fixing points. Hope it helps!

THanks, sounds like it, I stupidly thought that the LR one would fit the Discovery, it really is an afterthought as a piece of design. Rolling Eyes

and I couldn't work out why the fastenings, which were so damn awkward to do up, then came apart just by looking at them!

The Hatchbag tailgate cover is very good. Combined with teh hatchbag boot liner, means I get all sorts of crud and stuff spilt into the back and the tailgate climbed all ofer, but underneath it's still as new Thumbs Up
