rear diff drive shaft oil real |
|
just got a new ticket for the beast but while it was up in the air i found a wet rear diff. I think it is a simple oil seal but i noted on a few posts that it could be a blocked breather hose. It is only damp on the drivers side shaft. Have any of you had to replace one and what would the average charge be at a garage. Mine has only covered 25k in 5yrs and i am the first owner. Cheers glyn tie two birds together though they have four wings they cannot fly!!

Hi Glyn
The diff/halfshaft seals are about £6 each. (I assume that is what you mean rather than drive/propshaft)
I had both halfshaft seal replaced 6 months ago and I think it cost about 3 hours labour. If you follow the LR guidelines it take longer as LR recommend you remove the exhaust and dismantle all the hubs, discs, EPB etc. My local garage did it without taking the car to bits Duncan
