Is the SDV6 worth the extra cost ?
Hi All,
New to the world of LR!! struggled with CRVs and the like but now have another Dog (3 now .... all workers) and need the space, plus fed up of getting stuck in fields!
Just ordered a TDV6 D4 commercial (company car .... can't afford the tax to have the one with back seats) and had the options to bring it to an XS spec .... Lux pack, DAB, convenience pack etc ... went with the TDV6 because I struggled to justify the £1,100 price difference. Apart from the 35 bhp (co2, economy all the same) what is the difference? Is it just a different chip/fuel map or is it a bit more complicated? Should I stop penny pinching and change the order to a SDV6 or should I wait for the warranty to expire and take it to a little man on the corner to change the chip?
thanks ..... very excited .... although delivery yet to be confirmed!

Welcome sr, can't advise on T or SDV6 as drive a humble D3 but love the old nostalgic image of a bloke saying "do you a good deal on a semiconductor sandwich, gov!". Search on here for +D4 +remap.

DSL a salesman told me you can still get the commercial in the 2.7 but that was a few months ago things might have changed by now, who knows MY18 D5 HSE LUX😎

So WTF is the difference between a SDV6 and a TDV6 - apart from extra pennies?

loads more of these
Although mine is badged as a TDV6 its the full beans version as the lower tuned model wasn't available on release. I'm sure this will lead to confusion for all those buying D4's on the 09/10 plates on the secondhand marketClub Forum Criminal !!!

The 2010 model year Tdv6's had 3.0 badging as well but this has now been dropped for 2011.

And to further complicate matters, some SDV6 models are being registered with DVLA as TDV6 models (see my other post) in the "My D4" section 2010 MX-5 2.0 Sport Tech PRHT
2019 Suzuki Vitara AllGrip
Gone BMW X5 xDrive 30d M Sport (F15)
Gone Disco 4 HSE SD V6
Gone 2008 Jaguar XF 2.7TD Premium Luxury

when i took my dad to get his d3 from stratsone land rover dealers in nottingham i asked about the tdv6 and sdv6
he said...
there is no performance improvement, the sdv6 has a new kind of filter which collects all the carbon etc which usually builds up in the engine, and then when you go on a long run it gets to a certain temperature which then burns this carbon off leaving with a cleaner more efficient and longer lasting engine...
i questioned the performance saying i heard sdv6 was more powerful but he stood by his word and said there both the same

So the salesman was talking about a DPF then? Sounds like his product knowledge was up to the usual standard for a salesman Alex
