I miss my Disco... But !!!
So I miss my Disco
But I went to my local stealer to get a quote and was told that I couldn't get the NFU discount on a D4 is this true.
Also I think they were taking the with the trade in offer on my Sport £23000 which is a £7000 hit in 9 months.
So what is a realistic value for a Oct 2006 Sport HSE Zermatt Silver in great condition with 45000 miles.

Not checked latley but I got the NFU discount back in January on my D4.It's my mud so keep out!

Have read through this thread - some interesting info from James at Lookers Park Royal which explains why the NFU discount may, or may not, be applicable on the deal you're trying to get.

Yep I read that thread. Haven't even entered negotiations yet. Just asked for best price and then said and 5% discount for nfu membership and just got a flat no, no discount on D4. Hadn't got as far as asking about subsidised finance or anything at that point. 5% discount for nfu membership and just got a flat no, no discount on D4.
Best get onto NFU for clarification if you are an established member - little point in NFU advertising the discount (they make it clear that it is over and above any discount negotiated with the dealer) if LR dealers are trying to dodge providing it - strange in that it is meant to be a discount provided by LR themselves and not out of the dealers pocket at all AFAIK - perhaps sales are just too easy at present for the D4 & it's LR who are pulling the plug on it?(the T&C's give no guarantee of when the deal runs to anyway!)

So after a good few weeks of pestering and a bit of snow I have finally managed to get the part ex value of my RRS upto a level I am happy with.
Now for an extended test drive of a D4
So I have run through specs of the XS and HSE and come to the conclusion that I don't need the HSE spec with all the cameras etc. Other than electric seats the XS spec seems to cover what my Sport HSE has got plus a few extras.
Looking forward to the test drive and will all being well be in a D4 the next time the snow arrives. MTRs at the ready 65 Discovery 4 SE Tech Firenze Red 20"s

if you are a member of NFU, calll the'callfirst' line 08708458458, have your membership number ready and if the dicount hass carried into 2011 they will send you a voucher which the dealer is obliged to accept as the discount comes from Land Rover UK not the dealer itself.
Saved me my membership for the next few years!

I collected my D4 HSE from James at Lookers last Thursday, got the full 5% discount on top of the price I had negotiated with James, no quibbles and top service.
Requested the NFU voucher 0900 on Wednesdy morning, had the faxed copy by 1500 and collected the car at 1000 on Thursday, the voucher does say 5% off an HSE then 4% off an XS, 3% off a Commercial.
TBH there are a lot of dealers out there who smugly tell you no discount as the vehicle sells itself, but I am in business and get chipped on a daily basis, so the dealers who said no, didn't get my business! One dealer rang me and when I told him it was too late I had one coming in the next week he had the audacity to say "why didn't you ring me back" initially I contacted 5 dealers and asked for their very best price for an HSE with additional spec, 2 told me to foxtrot oscar, 1 came back with a bit, not much, 1 came back with something more like it and James came back with the figure I had in mind!
I live close to Cheltenham and bought the last 1 from JV Like, but they weren't quite close enough this time and my money is too hard earnt to throw it away.
One final thing, I sold my D3 privately and quickly and was happy with the price I got.
Couple of niggles with the D4, not faults of the dealerls though, I didn't realise that the RSE was wired and not IR headphones, also the only reason I went for factory RSE was so I got the additional headphone sockets for the kids to listen to one thing whilst I had something else on in the front, the 3rd row of seats didn't come with the headphne sockets, only the middle ones, in hindsight if I had known this I would have gone for after market and saved myself some money, but the integration into the front unit is very good. I think I'll be looking into changing the screens for compatible ones with IR headphones. Wiggs! If you are reading this!

So demo over figures crunched I am a very soon to be a D4 owner
I have had the HSE all day and it was so much better than I expected.
The engine is a big improvement on 2.7 not really so much grunt just refinement.
And it all seems to be screwed together...
I would love the HSE but my head said XS.
