Definitive Map Hampshire? |
|
I’ve been looking at the ‘definitive map’ for my area, partly to look at some out the way footpaths, and of course to find some more rights of way that are still open to motor vehicles in Hampshire.
For those that don’t know, the definitive map and statement is a County Council’s legal record of public rights of way and shows public Footpaths, Bridleways, Restricted byways and Byways open to all traffic.
The pdf can be downloaded, for example:-
http://www.hants.gov.uk/rh/row/maps/definitive-maps.pdf
Once you’ve opened the area you want all the routes are numbered, but I can’t find anywhere online where information about each route can be accessed using the route number.
It’s probably me not knowing my way around the web site, so I’m wondering if anyone on here knows how to access this information.
Thanks
Nasher. Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

and look at the 'statements for parishes' on the right, I think they tie up with the numbering on the definitive map.
Thanks for that.
They take some finding, and you need to guess which parish you need, but it's all there.

Still not perfect but this
http://www3.hants.gov.uk/registration/regi...shes-a.htm
gives you an idea in the county where each and every parish is located via the corresponding 'main office' for enquiries.
You've got me at it now, I'm going to try to compile something

This is also fairly usefull, it takes some navigating around as the largest scale available is 50,000 though this is helped by initialy putting in an area such as Clanfield. If you put this into the search, you'll get a map, then use the 50,000 view and you'll find some brown lines, these are Byways open to all vehicles (Caution!!) when you click on the brown line in question, another info page comes up with a grid reference and any changes to the law, some now have vehicle prohibition notices so be careful.

You might well see me stuck out there sometime!
Sorry, forgot tomention, click on 'info' before clicking on brown line....
