D3 V's D4 & service cost

Had my D3 (tdv6) in for 72k service yesterday. Lent me a D4 with same engine..25000 k's on clock.... Didn't seem to have the grunt, nor as lively off mark as mine.

BTW, service cost over $1,800 but included about $800 for new F/R brake pads....can't complain, OEM pads were replaced. Bur a far cry from the old days when a grease & oil change cost under $200!

I've been using a LR Indy for some time now . They do the whole job for less than the Dealer was wanting
just for the labour ex.GST . There's only so-much gouging that's acceptable , and Dealer hourly-rate , plus
"madeup jobs and charges" is a ripoff . My 3 year service was $382 all up ! Thumbs Up
WRT the 2.7: the new one has the crankshaft from the 3.0TT and maywell have less turbo boost ........

Rob,

I just had my tdv6 D3's in for its 48k service, done at Graeme Cooper in St Peters.

Price was about 10% less than quoted at dealers and they did more, flushed transmission and diffs etc, also had the front and rear pads (cost about $450) so could be worth thinking about.

Regards,

George

Rob depending on where you live, when it is out of LR Factory warranty, i would take it to Ayers Automotive at Brookvale, full service, Allianz Warranty work etc, cost me nearly half of that of the Main Dealerships.

I had a major service including transmission, differential, and transfer box oil change, all in it came to $980.. bargain and they
know their landies, even the new generation models

Thanks

I also just got my D4 3.0 1st service (12,000km) done last Friday.

Quotes from the official dealers were from "around $500" - "around $600".
Quote from Graeme Cooper was "around $400".

Graeme Cooper did it for $347.90.

They found an oil weep on the O/S Turbocharger, that I need to take to the official dealer for a warranty repair.

Note that in NSW legislation has been passed that means the factory warranty must be honoured even if the servicing has been done by non-factory mechanics, so long as it is done to the stipulated servicing schedule etc. That's why Ultra-Tune and other mechanics are advertising so heavily on TV etc.

After the service the car is a lot smoother and free-revving. I get a lot more power even without going into Sports mode.

A belated thanks for the feedback....been obsessed with some renovations here consuming spare time.
Brookvale could be a good option, not too far from Turramurra. But loan car could be an issue.
