My LR3 is finally fixed: it was a wiring short, again |
|
Ok, my car has been fixed. After almost two weeks in the shop.
They found a shorted cjbox (whatever that is - fusebox of some sort, but programed to the car?), but that turned out to have been caused by a wiring short: after they removed carpets etc they found 4 wires near left door were burned and rubbing to "B" post. Now fixed.
This is the third or fourth somewhat major wiring/wiring loom issue I have had with this truck. Seems wiring is not LR's strong point. Or maybe this was a Friday afternoon car.

'CJB' is the glorified fuse box behind your glove box
Wiring issues & software issues have been the disco3's achilles heel from the outset i'm afraid and it's down to the piggy in the middle -the dealer who is at the sharp end to sort out these problems
Compliments to your dealer on sorting this-trying to find the route cause on faults like this can be like trying to find the proverbial needle

Yes indeed, they did a good job.
They are getting used to my car's oddities: it's been in the garage on a number of occasions for several weeks at a time, and every time it has been electrical (wiring or sensors: mainly wiring, corroded or shorted wiring looms etc). I feel sorry for them (but not sorry enough to not also feel sorry for me, the paying customer!)
Anyway - all OK now. Just praying for no more witing issues in the years to come.
Driving to my cottage this afternoon, and looking forward to it.
Cheers,
Mike
