Advice for Higher tow hook for D4 |
|
Hi
Does anyone know if there is a tow hook hook available in South Africa that sits higher off the ground like I have seen on pictures in Australia?

Hi.
Also Have a look @ http://www.g4outdoor.co.za/Products/land_rover.html- The G4 spec tow bar- I have one fitted on my Disco 4 and It works very well, It clears the PDC sensors, the recovery point is open and you can close the back cover while the towbar is on.

I have tried it on my first Disco 3 many years ago, but the ground clearance is the main problem with the LRO19990.

Hi Roald, good one to have recovery point accessible any time. Now with this tow ball hight my trailer will loose it nose-down-look and add good ground clearance. My concern is that I have very little articulation on the tow ball once the car is going down a slope and the trailer is still on the ridge, I may break the tow hitch of the trailer?!
I saw the Aussies have a special tow hitch (hyland hitch) that articulates in all directions. Anything like that availleble and legal in RSA?

Hi Juergen,
Why don't you import the "Mitch hitch' from Australia?

Getting my offroad trailer soon and upon measuring the Disco hitch height also got the surprise that the standard Disco3 towbar is way too low. Looking at the Frontrunner and G4outdoor towbar versions, which one is more advisable? AFAIK the Frontrunner is generally the favourite, so are there any reasons to not get it?
ps.. notice G4outdoor has 2 models if I'm not mistaken - offroad version and slimline version. Are both equally strong etc? 2012 LR Discovery SDV6 SE
