Fitting rear seats

Hi Guys

My 05 HSE did not come with the two rear seats fitted. The seat well is there but I have a foam insert with the jack and other tools covered by a plywood lid which is trimmed in the standard LR carpeting I am now keen to turn my D3 into a seven seater.

Does anyone have some advice for me on converting to a seven seater? I assume that the rear seat just bolt in but I am concerned about how difficult it will be to fit the seat belts.

Secondly, I am in the market for a set of used rear seats (black trim) and seat belts.

Thanks

Doc

I took my rear seats out a couple of years ago when I fitted a set of black widow drawers.
It was relatively easy, half a dozen bolts and that was it. The seat belts are part of the seat not a separate item.
One warning though - the seat (one conjoined pair) are heavy. It will take two of you to lift it into place.

Sorry I cannot assist with a seat as mine are the cloth type (2005 SE).

Good luck

Thanks Grahame, the fitting sounds quite easy. Just have to see how strong SWAMBO is Mr. Green

I will continue to search for a set of seats!

Hi Doc,
An important point is that the 2nd row seats are different between the 5- and 7-seaters. As you will see, the 5-seater set is in two sections, while that for the 7-seater is in three.

Am I right in believing that you have air suspension? If not, 7 seats is NOT an option.

HTH,
Peter

Hi Peter, I have the air suspension model (HSE) and the middle row of seats consist of three separate seats. Therefore it looks like converting the vehicle to a seven seater is a viable option Thumbs Up
Thanks

Hi Doc,

Just fitted the rear seats back into my 06 HSE, quite easy, but you will need 2 people as the rear seats are flexible in
the middle.
The wife helped me so they are not that heavy just a bit awkward.

Doc, just a heads up, you may want to check if the threaded bolt holes
are there first, if memory serves me right, the side holes are boxed in,
so the normal bolt and nut will not work there. Also the centre mount
may require some sort of support/reinforcing plate from the bottom
side to prevent bolts pulling through the floor plate. Hope the luck's
on your side Thumbs Up

I would expect the 2nd row is divided into 3 parts in the 7-seater to allow easier access to the 3rd row from both sides. It could also be that the smaller part of the 2nd row doesn't rotate forward in the 5-seater but I'm not sure.

For people with original 5 seaters it could be worth it checking this; if you are willing to live with the fact that the 3rd row seats are accessible only from one side, a 5-seater could be converted I suppose.

Hi Discoeast, good point about the bolt holes and central support. I will pull out the foam insert and lid later in the week and have a look.

Hi Wiljo, my middle seats (3 separate ones) rotate the same as the 7-seater model. I had a 7-seater TDV6 last year.

One...

Not in mine - I have an MY08 and the third row seat belts come from the rear pillar, and not attached to the seat until they are done up.
