Hi all, new member, just needing a bit of advice, has anyone fitted a tom tom sat nav into the space in the dash or similar ?
Regards, eastcoast.

Dickgriff has (quite a nice install) I'm sure he will be along soon to point you in the right direction

I have the tom tom 700. I sits very nicely where the LR display would have gone - almost looks like it was designed to go there. You can sort the wire out to hide down the side of the facia, into the glove box and back down to the 12v socket.
However, I also prefer to stick it to the windscreen. The battery lasts three hours, so you dont have to plug into the 12v supply every time. Also, by using the screen holder/fitting, you can use the bluetooth hands free capability. It is the best reception and sound quality I have had in any hands free kit. If you place it where the landrover display would be, you have to remove the tom tom holder, which means you loose the handsfree capability.
As for GPS reception, just as good wherever it is sited and windscreen not a factor to worry about. 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

I have a Sat Nav from Macro the Transonic one, what I did to mount mine in the space was to cut a piece perspex the size of the hole.
This sits snuggly in the space and I then stick the windscreen mount to this piece of perspex.
This all fits into my cubby box when not needed and does not leave the tell tale mark on the window for the smash & grab brigade.
Flack.

I got a spare Home Dock for my TomTom 510 and removed the USB cable. I then made up a wooden wedge to fit under the dock to bring the 510 screen angle to the same as the air vents. You can plug in the 12V power lead into the dock and away you go. I found that by fitting the rubber base to the wooden block the unit sits securley in the apeture and does not move at all.

I fitted a TomTom Go 910 in the dash space where the LR model sits. See the gallery for pics. I wired it in to the AUX on the sound system, so I now have 15gb of mp3's to play (all legal of course!).
For handsfree I am running the mike that comes with the tomtom to just behind the steering wheel on the dash. Disco 2 TD5 "Good"
Disco 3 TDV6 "Better"
Disco 4 HSE SDV6 "Best"
The older I get, the better I was.

I use Tom Tom Mobile on my Nokia N70, and it just sits nicely upright to the right (or left if you're so inclined ) of the dash cutout. The rubber mat also helps it sit correctly. It's just about the right distance from my eyes so as not to be out of focussing range.
Anyway, I like being a prat walking about with my Tom Tom running and getting voice instructions from my pocket If you wait for it to go wrong - it's bound to oblige

same here only mines not the N70.
have it set up in a phone mount on the dash - as you would for a mobile. It charges the phone and powers tomtom. Coupled with a bluetooth GPS receiver - only niggle is that its a bit quiet
