If not invented by, then certainly popularised by the German luxury market. My previous BMWs and Mercs had them. Mind you, they were both warmer glows and seemed to have more of an effect than the D3/D4 ones. I didn't even notice I had one for a good while in the D3...2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)

I've had two D3's & never noticed it at all.

I have it in my Jag XKR as well. It gives off the 'Aura of Wealth'.
