D3 sans PAS cooler? - Apparently it's a thing. |
|
Whilst getting my head in to check out how to replace the Aux fuel cooler radiator, I note my D3 does not have a power steering cooler. Return line goes straight to the reservoir.
Is this yet another "dodgy brothers" cock up by the previous owners/mechanics or were there variants out there that don't have the PAS cooler in front of the A/C condenser?
In the 5 years I've had it, I haven't noticed any untoward behaviour. I'm just gearing up for a PAS flush and reservoir replacement, so if I should be adding a PAS cooler and brackets I best allow for that also.
Edit: So checking on Microcat it seems like a thing. The cooler is marked as applicable, but the return line that connects to the cooler is marked "Part not applicable to this vehicle" and the indicated return line is QEH500532 straight from the pump to the reservoir.
This vehicle is an oddity. Late 2007 build MY08. XS UK import. Came with RSE, DPF, Aux fuel cooler radiator, FBH and no PAS cooler. Every time someone looks at it they say "Gee, I haven't seen that before". Almost like it was a parts bin special.
