Goodbye!!
Today it's goodbye to my September 09 HSE. It's been a fantastic car. I've covered 33,500 miles on every type of terrain and road and it's been superb.
I'd like to say it's been trouble free, but it really hasn't. It's had a lot of niggling problems, one of which still isn't sorted, even after many days in different dealers to try to sort it out.
Average mpg during my ownership was 23mpg
Apart from a set of tyres and a windscreen, no other costs. My tyres lasted 26,000 miles.
Depreciation in 18 months was approx £17k.
My advice to anyone ordering a new D4.........
Surround cameras are a waste of time and money.
Factory RSE is not very good, the screens are small and the viewing angles are not good.
Hybrid TV tuner only really works when stationary.
Electronic rear diff really isn't necessary, the car is excellent off-road and in the snow without it.
Overall ownership experience........Car as a concept is utterly brilliant, execution and support by LandRover poor.2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE

Holy crap , that is some depreciation. I've only lost £1500 in 13 months on my D3 as part ex for a D4.

If you use the car off road then I think the surround cameras are a godsend - it completely removes the fear of cresting blind, and the rear camera is quite useful on failed climbs as it allows you to follow the projected lines back down the slope, which is good if it is heavily rutted or full of rocks!
I'd certainly have it 2014 D4 XS

I did a free be LRE half day on the D4 and they pushed the cameras like mad. Unfortunately they are so wide angled that by the time you see it in the camera view you've hit it. Decided on that experience that if I bought one the cameras box would not be ticked.

The surround cameras are great if you have someone constantly running around the car keeping them clean As for using them off road...yeah as long as its fine and dry I wished I spent the money on something else Sorry just my 2 cents

Cameras......
1. They were a whole load of hassle. Including two new cameras, an overlay wiring loom and a new camera control module. a front one still fritzes sometimes but I gave up with them 6 months ago. (12 working days in stealer to fix them total)
2. As soon as they are wet they are next to useless
3. If the front ones didn't point straight forward they might be of some use.
4. For what they cost I could employ the services of a Sherpa to spot for me when off roading
DangerDave......except it cost £55K so is now worth £38K.....going gung-ho with the options doesn't pay except for the permagrin factor!!2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE
