Just done mine, 92k '07' - was quite gunked up though not as bad as some on here, cleaned it up and went out for a 20 mile round trip and certainly feels smoother and keener at low revs and generally smoother Very Happy

Cleaned my MAP sensor, I get smoother power delivery, I can hear the turbo now, I'm getting 32mpg on strait roads and 34.5mpg on motorways. Pulling away seems stress less and with the caravan hooked on, pulling away and cruising is effortless now. Everything is smoother. Map sensor was bunged up at 55.000 miles, and things felt rough and lumpy before cleaning the MAP sensor.

Cleaned MAP sensor this morning with 175kkm. It was indeed dirty. However not as some of yours I have noticed.
I do not use any additions to the diesel fuel. No EGR blanked.
Car has regular and scheduled maintenance at the dealer in Rotterdam.

mine was blocked solid.
Landy was smoking heavily under heavy acceleration but fine otherwise. Just a quick run and it seems better. Will post pics

Just done my first bit of maintenance on the car Thumbs Up

Pic before cleaning - Bit gunked to say the least!:

And after:

Also added 250ml of 2 stroke....will see if it makes a difference

I can't blank my EGR's yet as I don't think you can for a 2008 D3......so re-map next, but need to save for this

Just done mine 08 with 62K and it looked like most on here.
Quick run round the block to see if it still worked and I don't see a noticeable difference. Will have a longer run later

I dont feel it has a terrible loss of power, just feels like its strangled a bit...

Having blanked the EGR on our previous TD4 FL and changed the pipes for silicone, I couldn't believe the amount of crud I got out..the EGR was almost blocked.

So I assume the Disco is probably in a similar state? What are the options, if any, for cleaning?

Cheers
Andy

Holy smokes...to those of you with a V8 4.4L like me...good luck! It almost qualifies as a body off job! What a pain in a** it is to reach the MAP sensor which is located on the Rear of the engine on the back side of the intake manifold. I was laying across the top of my engine and had to use a mirror to even see that damn thing. My sensor looks much different than the diesels, it's longer and has 4 slits in it.

To make matters worse the thing was pretty clean when I pulled it out. Oh well, good to know it's clean I guess. Won't be doing that again, like ever!

Another Daft question........

Since cleaning the Map sensor the 'Water in Fuel' message that I was getting near constantly has now completely gone.....Any relation at all to the cleaning?

Thanks

Map Sensor Clean

Had a look at mine last week and it was mucky. Not as bad as some on here with the hole blocked but waxy nonetheless. I wiped it off with some kitchen towel and in doing so pushed some in the hole! Managed to shake out most of it but could see some on the edges.

Decided to bite the bullet and clean it out with Unipart Brake and Clutch cleaner spray. Squirted it in the hole (from a distance) and kept shaking out the black liquid that followed. Kept doing it until it went clear. Left it to dry on top of the AGA and refitted.

Following day I went on a 100 mile trip up the A303. Mostly travelling at 70 - 75 mph. The trip meter would normally show 27.5mpg. This trip it showed 32.5mpg!

Maybe the placebo effect but it appeared a bit more responsive too.

From what people say here, the sensor is a diaphragm. If it gets waxy oily deposits on it, it must hinder performance. So did cleaning it make it efficient again.

Just an interesting outcome that I thought I would share with you all. Very Happy

Mine started smoking, running rougher and drinking the juice again today. So I pulled it out again and it is fouled.

Cleaned and as good as new again. It must be either the egrs or a Turbo seal. It looked like it was full of tar.
