towing - 13 to 7 pin adapter

The reverse lights don't activate on the bike carrier, anyone know if this down to using an adapter?

Side, brake, indicator and fog lights all fine.

Thanks
Nick

It should work. If you suspect the adaptor do a continuity check between the relevant pins on the front and back.

The reverse is on the 12s on pin 1 and pin 8 on the 13 pin. If you are only using the 12n then there is no reverse.

I hate 7 pin plugs and always hack them off and fit a 13 pin plug. The 7 pin arrangement is just terrible.

As Robbie says - which way is your adapter? 7 pin on Disco or 13 pin on Disco?

7 pin on the disco, 13 pin on the bike trailer.

So in summary current set up won't provide reverse lights as there isn't a pin?

How easy is it to change the 7 pin to 13 on the disco?

Thanks
Nick

It's no bother to fit the LR 13-pin loom as a DIY job.

Seems like a lot of extra wires that won't currently exist behind the 7 pin adapter so I take it this is a new loom? As I already have the electrics enabled then assume just the loom needed?

Thanks
Nick

I believe it needs a dealer or an electronic box to 'tell' the car which type is fitted?

Its something I must do soon, as my new caravan has 13 pin. I bought a twin 7 pin to 13 pin adaptor, and it work with all the lights, but its a big ugly thing to have to use.

The D4 does not appear to care if it is set to either 7-pin or 13-pin in the CCF, so it should just work when you fit the new loom.
