D4 Tow Bar Electrics
I have just recieved my twin tow bar electrics from Nic at Landrover Yeovil (AKA TLO), they look straight forward to fit! I have read a few threads of the forum - however is there any advice as to problems during the intsallatioin? When installed I will get Pete from Bellauto's to activate it along with a few bits n bobs for my new XS.
I see you have to remove the rear bumper! how is this removed.2010/60 Discovery 4 XS Zermatt Silver - Privacy Glass, Timed Climate (with remote), Voice, 4x4 screen, Bong on lock/un-lock (Pete BellAutos)

Maybe a bit of advice would be to ensure the cable from the socket to the opening underneath the D3 near the left rear light unit is secure along its whole length. You don't want your left hand dangly ball chafing the cable. Run silent, run deep!! HM Submarines Conqueror, Churchill, Renown, Ocelot, Porpoise, Onslaught.

I see you have to remove the rear bumper! hoe is this removed.
I fitted tow electrics to my D3 and didnt remove the rear bumper, you should be able to do it by removing the light cluster and lowering the spare wheel! should be the same process for the D4, didnt have to do mine, came fitted luckily

I did my D4 without removing the bumper just ensure you fasten the plasic plugs into the holes underneath and ensure all wiring is well away from the swinging balance weight at the back !
Oh your kit comes with a plastic piece about 4'' x 5''which is to secure the wiring connectors to which is supposed to be fastened to the body work, you will not be able to to fasten it on the body without removing the bumper so chuck it in the bin and do without it.MY18 D5 HSE LUX😎

Check out the Toking Kit fitting instructions on the Land Rover's owner's site at
I am assuming you have a D4 and are fittin in the twin 7 pin tow bar electrics.
Good Luck

Well I have completed the wiring of the tow bar electrics! piece of cake really - however the screws supplied with the kit were the wrong size for the 'Black Socket' need to find the size and just screw it to the body!2010/60 Discovery 4 XS Zermatt Silver - Privacy Glass, Timed Climate (with remote), Voice, 4x4 screen, Bong on lock/un-lock (Pete BellAutos)

Just done mine last night
Very easy - took me about an hour
Can't believe how much Land Rover wanted to supply and fit - shocking

We ordered ours as a factory fit option (detachable tow bar and 13 pin electrics) and I thought the price was reasonable - lower than KIA charged for the same thing on our Sorento five years earlier. LR Discovery 4 XS pulling an Airstream 532 Caravan also own (since new) a 1996 MGF
