I run STTs on a Defender, pretty good in all but the muddiest of conditions, not to much of an increase in fuel or noise compared to ATRs. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

STT's on the D3 as well
But they are noisy and do affect fuel consumption.
(As for DaveT's comment...probably doesn't notice any difference in road noise in a Deafener... ) The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
