Sat Nav - Contour Lines & Sound

2 questions on the sat Nav if anyone can help:

(1) Can the contour lines be turned off to make the screen look less cluttered?

(2) Is there a quick way to mute the sound of the navigation, i.e. single press of something. It is a pain if you are on telephone or in conversation?

1. No, unless you zoom in to a more usual navigation setting e.g. 1/8th mile scale

2. Yes - you can use the nice voice command (if you've got the right spec) - though if you are on the phone, the navigation commands are routed to a different speaker and don't really interfere.

Thanks Winger - I think I understand No: 1 ( I presume they just disappear at the high zoom)?

Regarding 2 - It does interfere. If I am talking to someone on the telephone and can see from the display which way I need to go, how do I mute the voice with minimum key depressions? I presume the voice prompt would cause the person on the other end of the telephone to enquire what I was doing/saying?

I think I have the spec although I didn't realise I had voice prompts. I guess I need to re-read the manual?

Under guidance, press the home key, then the voice off button bottom right.

If none of that makes sense, then I would suggest (perhaps) devoting a few minutes to perusal of the book of words.

As Gareth pointed out, the easiest way to do it is to floggle the talky toggle (you'll find this on the lefthand side of your steering wheel) and utter the imortal words "Navigation Voice Guidance Off". As you have the premium navigation, voice control comes as part of the package.

If you play with the settings you can set it up to just give out a single 'ping' tone each time you should be getting a command when you are on the phone. Or you can turn off voice altogether by pressing home and then the voice off key when you're on the move which isn't all that good.

Disco, if you really want to impress yourself, go and say to your car "Navigation, I'm Hungry" Wink
