The original ad is still online:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LANE-ROVER-DISCOVERY...es_UK&
hash=item231144cca9

He has another ad running currently:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-5-5-HP-PETROL-...231254f6f0

so Ebay haven't banned him.

Bill Wright Thumbs Up

Bill Wright has just shown that you can still see the photo even after a sale has ended.

The seller didn't use the same photos did he?

Have you found the item number yet for the car you bought on ebay even though the description has changed ?

Bill Wright's link is to the original listing on e-Bay.

Carl01 seems to have bought the car when relisted by another vendor.

Carl01 - maybe you should seek the help of the CAB, or a local solicitor.

While I can understand your dissappointment and annoyance at buying a vehicle that is not all that it was advertised to be, it was cheap for a 2007/57 D3 and if it was owned by highways authorities it was probably well maintained. In addition, the mileage was possibly mainly motorway and hence better than stop/start school run which many are used for. It may actually be reasonable value for your money.

I'm not suggesting everything is OK. The low-life that do this sort of thing deserve to be strung up. While it's infuriating that they may get away with it, balance the chance of getting any satisfaction against the hassle you may have getting there. You could cause yourself a lot of stress and still not get anywhere.

You may be better off putting it down to experience and enjoying the superb driving experience.

Yes it is possible for someone with the right kit, thing is though - is it really the wrong mileage? it's not always easy to tell, if it's been a HA vehicle, or any that's done lots of shortish trips with people getting in & out all the time, it's bound to show a lot more wear than one that's been a motorway mile muncher.

It would be nice to see if there's any records through the LR dealership network, what about the last MOT?

Failing all that, 11 grand for a 57 plate D3 doesn't seem too bad specially since you say it's actually in decent nick overall.

I've just checked Manheims catalogue for next week and there is an ex HA Discovery 3 at their Bristol site on 1st December 2009. Details are: Reg, EU57 UHR, 155K miles, first registered 07/12/07.

According to the condition report there are several small dents and scrapes around the exterior and a few holes etc. in the interior trim, as expected I guess. It has a full size spare and all tyres are listed as 'acceptable', there is also a fixed towbar fitted.

Anyone thinking of buying EU57UHR from ebay buyer greenroseman http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LANE-ROVER-DISCOVERY...231144cca9 be warned - the mileage has been "adjusted"

Note that the seller may be unaware of the genuine mileage.

On that basis the seller could be thousands out of pocket. He possibly won't pay you the difference and you have got to start all over again. I would suggest you just try and get a sum back and keep it based on what you have alreaady spent. Better the devil you know and all that. Be cheeky ask for 2K you have nothing to loose.

Some good suggestions from The Coachman, but perhaps you could also take it as far as you can with Ebay & Trading Standards and if that fails you could bring the matter to the attention of the local newspaper in the area the car was bought from.

The person who sold it to you may be only to happy to refund some money based upon the true mileage if there is a threat his name may be in the paper.

Does the registration document have the name of the person you bought the car off, did he ever tell you why he bought it and decided to sell it on again within a very short time.

I've learned lessons the hard way with my own personal experience's with bad luck and losing money. (now this is only my opinion and what would suit me) I would ask for some money back,if it works all's well and good if not as the song goes "why worry,be happy" Like other posters on here say it will be better condition than lower short journey cars and have been well serviced. I've worried bout things in past been down legal routes done the threats bit and got me nowere except high blood pressure, sleepless nights and near heart attacks. It dosn't help reading about the car on here! If it looks like your getting nowere with it just be happy with the car it could be a lot,lot worse. Put it down to experience. I know the gutted feeling you must have,i've been their and worn the t-shirt Thumbs Up

Persoanlly |I would be severly hacked off about te whole affair, but...............at least it's not stolena nd you still have the vehicle, yes you may have paid over the odds but it seems to be a good runner for the higher than expected mileage (look up user on here 'character' - the vehicle will do the miles with no real worries - he's done over 400k in his!)

I think it's a major case of buyer beware, but despite doing all the checks and being 'aware' it's still all to easy to get stung - I forget the user name but there was a guy on here who bought a cloned D3 and lost everything - your situation isn't any where near that bad - live and let live, learn from mistakes and save the stress - get that permagrin installed and get the D3 off roading!!!!
