Servicing - Dealer or not ?
Hi all,
New to D3 ownership.
I have a one owner 2005 HSE 68k full dealer service history last serviced in February this year.
Moving forward I don't know whether to stick with main dealer or not. I have a good friend who's a manager at a garage that looks after all the warwickshire police and fire service vehicles so I know he would look after it.
Just looking for your opinions really whether main dealer service history means anything on a car out of warranty?
Thank you

I can't see that it matters that much, so long as the service book is stamped up to show that the relevant services have been carried out it shouldn't make any difference who has done it, specially with a car out of warranty.Clive

Thanks for that, happy to support sponsors etc.
Can you tell me how to use the sponsers section.
On most forums the sponsors are listed and anything relating to them is in their section - I can't seem to work out how to read anything from the sponsors on here
Apologies if I'm being thick by the way.
Thank you

No way in hell I am letting the service department touch my wallet again, go independent! As long as you save receipts, etc, you're good!17 Discovery 5 HSE Si6, Fuji White on brown | 07 LR3 SE 4.4 Java Black on Alpaca

Hi,
I don't think it matters as far as vehicle value is concerned, even within warranty if it has dealer or independent stamps in it.
What does matter is finding a garage that you trust, & can talk to, to meet what you need.... be that independent or main dealer.
Regards
Steve

I used to be a dealership die hard until they tried to charge me £460 for rear discs & pads. Even taking off the labour it came out at almost £300 for parts. Suffice to say I now use Indy for engine stuff or for the relatively easy stuff (like brakes) I do it myself. Where there is a need for genuine parts I find TheLargeOne (Nick at Yeovil Land Rover, another site sponsor) to be a real Diamond with forum discount and fast delivery.
As said above, unless you need to protect a LR warranty then wasting money at main dealers makes no sense. Based on 15k miles a year that would mean approx 1 service, a couple of tyres, a set of brake pads, 1 adjustment of EPB and that's before un-scheduled stuff. Main Dealer versus Indy for that lot = enough money for a decent weekend away.

Mines had dealers, but booked into an independent 4x4 specialist for the 90K service a week today.
