Park Brake Failure/Suspension Lowered |
|
I started the car just now and have got several messages displaying on the info panel:
Park Brake Failure
Suspension Lowered
Unable to select low range (or something similar).
Park brake is making a noise but clearly not engaging, and the suspension won't raise.
I've been fitting my traxide kit today but have not got as far as touching the battery yet (just routing the cables from front to back and wiring up the sockets in the rear).
Also, I've unplugged the alarm module as it was in the way, but from what I've read on here this has been done before to get the car to use the horn rather than the siren.
I can't think of anything else I could have done to cause this..
From other posts I've read -
Gear selection is showing correctly on the dashboard (it's a manual)
Brake lights are working
Today I've driven it off the driveway, reversed it back on. Driven off the driveway, driven on forwards again, then lowered the suspension to make access easier to the engine compartment.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks

The battery may have run down whilst you were working on the car today, maybe charge the battery overnight?

Did you route the wire down the n/s of the car ? There are a couple of multi connecters behind the wheel arch liner which can corroid and break giving allsorts of faults with the suspension and EPB.

this sounds like a cascading fault, ie one problem leads to another totally not linked shut down - I had exactly the same the other week, first message " transmission fault" followed by " all terrain programmes not available (or similar) followed by "vehicle lowering"........ got him on IDS at LR, turned out to be the brake switch
moral of your story, dont even attempt to guess, get him plugged in at yer local LR stealer or my man at salisbury

Thanks for the replies!
I ran the cable down the drivers side, but I was careful not to dislodge anything. Also, the car was running fine after I'd run the cable.
One thing I have thought of.. When the car was sat on the drive (which is inclined slightly) I had it with the EPB applied, engine off, and selected access mode. As the car was lowering I noticed that the wheels turned slightly and the car moved forwards - wondering if that could have put a bit of pressure on the EPB causing it to go out of alignment?
Either way - It's at the garage now and I will await their verdict!

Quick post to say this is now all sorted.
Indie garage had him hooked up to the diagnostics machine quickly this morning but couldnt get any comms, and was getting a lot of fault codes.
Around lunchtime I had a thought.. I'd been going over and over what I'd done when fitting the first half of the traxide kit, and couldn't remember re-tightening the earth connection to the left of the second battery box. Call to the garage and they confirmed it! Sorted the earth, and reset the codes etc and all was fine again.
So - all caused by me not re-earthing a connection before starting the car
