European electric towing hitch on US LR4
Hello,
I have a US imported LR4 with 5.0 V8 from 2010 here in Germany, all specs for the cars (rear lights, new navigation hard disk, new instruments) for european/german use are changed.
Now I set up an original Land Rover towing hitch electric set, european version with 13 pins. Everything is working fine, but the trailer uses both brake and indicator lights when braking - the US version.
Is the changeable be a Land Rover dealer? Or only via faultmate? Or do I have to change cables?
I would be glad about every hint!
Thanks

Thanks wiggs!
I think changing to the 13 position socket may solve the problem.
Changing the wiring of the trailer is not a good idea because I use different trailers, also some that I do not own myself.
I will tell the solution here, tomorrow I have a date at the dealer.

Do you mean it's supposed to use brakes and indicators ... Or that's what's happening when you plug it in ?G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Yes, in the US you use brake and indicator lights together. Classic US cars used to have one bulb with two connectors!

In the UK this is not used ( separate braking and indicators ) so I can't see swapping to the 13 plug configuration is going to help you
Hence the suggestion to re wire the trailer ( or should I say swap some wires round on the trailer plug )G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Yes, rewiring is "the last solution". I got some useful hints from an other german Range Rover driver with the same problem.
I will keep you informed...

Hi there,
so it was very simply: Changing to the 13 pin european socket and deactivating "North American Trailer Lighting" (or similar) was the solution. Everyting is working as usual in Germany.
Thanks!
