Rob

Someone with more knowledge than me will be along shortlly,

1. The dangly things are harmonic dampers
2.Remove the plastic flap on the rear bumper which will reveal if electrics are fitted or not, the main wiring will be in place in the rear cubby box so not too much of a problem.

they basically alter the harmonic resonance frequency of the chassis from a frequency that is present under normal driving conditions to one that is rarely experienced. they're used quite a bit by JLR on both LR and Jaguar platforms... including ones on the XF and XJ (I can't remember which one was which!) which looks like Kenny from South Park, and another that looks like Rudolf the Reindeer!!!

Does that mean, if you’re driving through a farmer’s field and a massive klingon attaches itself to one of your dampers it will affect the harmonic frequency of your vehicle, not to mention smell a bit as it swings in the wind Laughing .

Harmonic dampening

I am a bit gutted that my car has in built harmonic dampers, The good Mrs Sweatyguy has "massive bangers" that for several years have done more than dampening my driving harmonics, looks like i can get rid of her now

Hi,

trailer electrics can bee fitted easily, but you have to uninstall the rear bumper cover. And you should go to your dealer and activate the electrics correctly.
