Help! I've lost the tow bar key!

Hi gang.. have just discovered that I have lost the key to the tow bar!

I thought it was in the ash tray.....

So.. are all the keys the same?

Can a dealer get a replacement or do I go looking for a midget locksmith?

Cheers

On the key hole disc there is a 4 character number.

Anyone's guess how long a replacement will take.
(use the emergency removal method if necessary for tyre change )

I doubt a locksmith would have the hitch key template

So you kept both keys together and lost both ?

Yes, I'm a clever little sausage aren't I?

The keys normally live in the tow bar when it is off the car and is naturally stored under my desk!!!

When it is fitted to the car, I normally put them in the ash tray.

Went to look today and they are not there!

My wife is giving me grief and I have no idea where they are.

Tell m more about the emergency way to get the spare tyre out please.

Cheers

Simon,

The hitch that we have looks like this one on a rear-ended example.
It obstructs the drop of the spare full size wheel unless it is removed.
Some folk don't like it ....... don't get them started ....... Laughing

Does offroad height help if stuck and need to wheel change with the hitch in place?

Neil - see what you mean Thumbs Up

As Simonsi says, can you raise the D3 and allow the tyre to drop at the front side first in order to get it out ? If your stuck it may work ???

I managed to get my spare out from under while the LR Razz tow hitch was fitted, but only after driving one wheel up on the gutter so I could slide the whell out sideways. Not very good if you are on the sand as the gutters there tend to be full of water Laughing

Fixed the problem, bought 4x4 Intelligence spare wheel carrier and Mitchell Bros hitch
Take the road less traveled. Dual battery system.ORS drawers,LR cargo Barrier.ARB Bull bar, side protection bars,Mickey Thompson ATR's 17" rims, Rear wheel carrier, radiator guard TPMS Mitchell Bros Tow Hitch LR RAI Steel Rims , GME UHF, Off Road GPS, Llams (yet to be fitted)

I am so incompetent. Big Cry I managed to ground mine on the driveway in normal height. Rolling Eyes

In most situations it is adequate but it is not a good design.
