Heated Front Windscreen - Just Three Narrow Stripes |
|
Hi, I did think my heated front windscreen had actually stopped working but I now realise it is working in three places. I get three vertical stripes down my window when the heated screen is on.
Two of the stripes are 5mm wide and the third about 25mm.
I am trying to make sense of where I can look to fix this.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thank you for your help.

Chinese copy been fitted?- not Pilkington for a guess! It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

It was changed, by Autoglass I think, as far back as 2010, well some while ago anyway.
It was not working last winter but I never noticed the stripes, I thought it had failed completely, now I have stripes.
Stripes indicate a sign off life and I rather assumed it was one circuit so confused how I have stripes just wondered if there are any magic tricks as I cannot justify a new screen just to save me scraping it off a few times a year.
Thank you for your help.

If it was you that had the screen replaced, then it should have a lifetime Autoglass guarantee.
If not, then you will have to either live with it or fork out the excess for a replacement Not such a Disco Newbie now!

That is interesting, I do not have any paper work so not sure how I go forward with this. It has been insured with the same company all along so I can try them or try contacting autoglass directly.
This has given me some hope, thank you.

All the insurance companies differ slightly, but my excess for screen replacement was £75. Claiming shouldn't (and didn't) affect my no claims bonus. Autoglass came out to home and fitted a new screen and also supplied and fitted new A post trims at the same time (no extra charge). I opted for full replacement rather than repair as I had four bullet hole stone chips and my elements were not working properly either.
Might be worth checking your emails etc. for when you think your screen was replaced, all my comms were this way. Not such a Disco Newbie now!
