TPMS or not ?
I've got a D4 HSE on order and have been having a think about adding tyre pressure monitoring.
I think I understand how it works - radio contact between something in/on the tyre and sensors on the vehicle. But what information is displayed and where do you see it, and do you get warnings that override other displays, and can you easily set it up for different tyre pressures (example, for towing). What sort of device is in/on the tyre and is it easy to remove when you want to adjust tyre pressure. And most importantly is it reliable ?
Anybody got TPMS on a D4 that can recommend it.

have also got a D4 on order and have looked at the TPMS as well. the thing i am not so keen about is that is does not give readings oer tyre, so you do not know what each one is doing.
i have looked at the trailair system, without camers, there are posts about it on this forum, and that is the one that o am thinking about going for.

It would be nice to monitor trailer tyres as well because I will be tugging my tintent with the D4. However the Trailair system means that I would lose High Beam Assist, which may or may not be an issue. Also the Trailair website insists that you buy the extra camera in the package whether you get it fitted or not.
The D4 TPMS option is £405 on the HSE and I just wondered what you get for the money.
Ideally I would like the functionality of the Trailair system integrated with the D4 dash display and existing rear view camera.

What's involved in fitting the sensors?D4 HSE, Active Rear Diff, surround cameras, adaptive xenons, heated steering wheel, TPMS, remote park heating, centre console cooler box

fitting sensors
from reading up on this, i am prety sure there are two types. those where the tyre has to be removed, and thoes where the sensor is in the valve cap. my own chice would be to romove the tyre, that way no one is likly to walk past and remove.
the land rover TPMS at £405, just has a warning light on the dash, that comes on when you pressure is low, but does not tell you which tyre it is. it also does not take into account temp. on my RRS, when we had temps below freezing point, the light used to come on, and remain on until the tyres where warm. however, as the spare had a sensor fitted, this caused allot of confusion.
the option to have something tht is fitted in the dash, or rear view mirror i think is allot better, nothing to move around or have to look for. the loss of the high beam assist would not be an issue for me, greart idea, but there have bean a few not so good reports on it on this forum. certainly something i will look at when the time is close to collection.Cheers

I am very happy with AVE system discussed in length here: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic50864.html does what it say on the box and very cost effective in comparison to other Oem options and I normally fit the wheel sensor myself and give the tyre fitter a well earned break, very easy to do! A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2
