D4 in Bournville
We have ordered a new 2012 D4 in Bournville. We have only seen the colour on a FFRR in the showroom but have not seen it on a D4 in the flesh.
Does anyone on the forum have one in this colour as you don't really see any advertised, is it really not a popular colour?
Will it affect the resale in a couple of years as opposed to say a black one?

If resale value is your main concern, why did you buy a D4 anyway?

Colour Choice
TonyRec
the coulour choice always effects the re-sale value, as it depends what is in vouge at the time you buy but more importantly when you sell, if you do that is.
personally, i like black, or should i say that is what my wife tells me i like. just ordered a D4, and was very tempted by the white, but just could not bring myself to over rule my wife, so black it is.Cheers

Also, here is somebodies side to side comparison of Santorini Black vs Bournville on FFRRs.

Personally, never considered anything else then black vs. white. First we did order a black 2011, but later we pushed the order to get one of the first 2012 off the line, and it will be Fuji White now.

Wouldn't be my choice tbh, but it's good to be different and I don't particularily like Black cars either
When I was looking for a deal last year and called round a few dealers for a p/ex price on my Zermat D3, not one asked the colour which I thought was odd at the time, nor the registration either at that stage so they couldn't have been looking it up either. Just age, model and mileage.
I'd suspect that they would use any excuse to knock a few quid off the value, but personally I would always buy a new car in the colour that I wanted at the time and not for any future users benefit!
One dealer advised me to stay away from the Ipanema D4 for that reason but I'm pleased I disagreed.
When me and the misses went to price up a D4 we were going were fancied Bournville after seeing one in Devon that looked great, but the dealer tried to put us off as it is not a popular colour so not so easy to move on later...Club N.E.R.D.s

I was tempted by Bournville but didn't particularly want a light interior which would have been the obvious contrasting choice so played safe [stornoway/ebony].
My six yr old daughter likes the D4 but always tells me that it's a shame that it is such a boring colour (she would no doubt preferred Viper Green or Riviera Blue!)
There aren't that many good photos on the web out there (lighting is everything!) but I found this link to a sport at a dealership that appears to be fairly accurate on my screen.
I still like Bournville though and think that it would date less than let's say Nara Bronze which is more of a colour of the moment.
It's a shame that LR don't offer more choice on interior colours on the D4 but presumably they'll be rolling out more choices when the RRD5 or whatever they call it comes out in a few years time.MY11 D4 SDV6 SE LHD (with remote park heater, heated seats in row 2, heated steering wheel and rear HVAC controls!)

We were going to get dark blue, until I saw a RRS in Bourneville at the showroom. We love it - most people think it's black until they get close, and it looks stunning in the sun. Really pleased with it, and I'm not worried about resale as I can't see why I'd sell the car

Many thanks for the replies.
After speaking to a couple of dealers before we ordered our's they both tried to put us off the colour Bournville. Both said that it looked great but would be difficult to shift at a later date.
Not knowing much about the colour it made us think.................not for too long though as we ordered one.
Looking at some of the photos and links that you have supplied makes us feel satisfied that we have made the right choice.
This car is for us and not anyone else and we are now pleased with our choice. it is always difficult when you haven't seen it in the flesh but in this case, with the light interior it will look great.
Roll on October

My D3 is Buckingham Blue and I had a few resevations but,
Have just got one
In dull light [car parks] it is glossy black, in bright daylight it is a sort of dark plum like a heavy duty Shiraz.
In between it is sort of like dark chocolate [75%]
Being metallic it is quite spiffy.+======

After much deliberation we have changed our colour to Black but we have kept the Arabica interior for the contrast.
It's all about personal preferences but only time will tell if we will regret not taking Bournville.
Anyway, roll on the end of October and I hope that my 2012 spec brochure falls onto the doormat someday soon.
