Removal of speakers at top of front doors |
|
Can the speakers be removed without removing the whole door card? If so, how?
Also, are the mirror wires accessible from behind the speakers? I want to fit a switch in each side to prevent the mirrors from folding when locking whenever towing mirrors are attached. I can disable folding mirrors with my Faultmate but then the switches won't fold them either, so a switch in the fold-in circuit seems the only solution.

Think you'll find the grilles are moulded to the door cards therefore removing the door card is necessary to get to the speaker/s behind

Thanks. I suppose that's an easy way to fit them without having to modify the door frame.
This begs the next question - how to remove the door card without damaging anything? I'll check-out the D3 threads to see if they help. Home of LLAMS, for LRs and Jeep GCs

AFIK there is a separate fuse for the powerfold mirrors in by the cjb, why not either just pull that out when using towing mirror or wiring a switch in at that point and mounting it wherever is convenient?

Isn't there a setting in the dashboard menu system for disabling the folding door mirrors anyway? (forgive me if I am wrong on this.....) 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

MrH,
It seems that the D4 mirror and window wiring is quite different to the D3, with the D4 having a door control unit for each of the passenger's and the driver's door (I suspect inside each door). I have an excerpt of the driver's mirror wiring diagram showing the folding control is integrated with the mirror adjustment controls, using common wires for multiple motors. I couldn't see an applicable fuse in the handbook.
My D4 has the base audio system so no capability there. Its easy enough to disable the folding using Faultmate, but then the mirrors can only be folded manually, which might have to do for a while anyway.
Thanks all for the help. Home of LLAMS, for LRs and Jeep GCs
